Hi,
Let me share with you a little bit about who I am. My name is David. I was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Quebec is a beautiful French speaking province on the eastern side of Canada. It is famous for its maple syrup, clean lakes, skiing, and international business hubs of Montreal and Quebec city.

I moved to Toronto Canada when I was in elementary school. As a young boy I loved to play sports and go swimming. In fact, I still like to do so today. I graduated St. Ignatius of Loyola High School and moved to Alberta, Canada. Alberta is a province in Western Canada famous for oil and gas exploration, mining and national parks. It was here that I attended the University of Alberta and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in the History of Science and a Bachelor's of Education with a major in social studies and a minor in French language teaching.
Upon graduation I was invited by the Minister of Education for Kangwon-do to work in Korean middle schools. I spent two years working in both Hong-Cheon as well as Kangwon National University. I must confess that Kangwon-do is my favorite province in Korea. The mountains, streams, lakes, and friendly attitudes of the people will always hold a special place in my heart. I must also note that Kangwon-do has in my opinion the best food to be had anywhere in the country. If you have a chance to visit this rugged and beautiful province I highly encourage you to do so.
I later worked for a large multinational called British American Tobacco. At the time, I was working for the human resource department as a language development consultant. Many of the people who I worked with are still my close friends today. I left British American Tobacco to work as a language lecturer for Dongseo University in Busan
I worked there for four years and then completed a Master's degree in linguistics and completed my Cambridge English Language Teaching Certification (CELTA).
I subsequently accepted a position at Ulsan National Institute of Technology. If you are interested in physics, engineering, biotechnonology, or data analytics I urge you to apply. If you are accepted you will receive a full scholarship, have the opportunity to study within one of the most prestigious universities in Korea. All courses are taught in English.
I am currently a Ph.D. student in International Studies and Political Economics at Pukyong National Univeristy. Some of the reading's that I have recently completed include:
- The Origins of Political Order (Francis Fukuyama)
- International Organizations: The Politics and Processes of Global Governance (M. Karns, K. Mingst)
- Games Without Rules: The often interrupted history of Afghanistan (Tamin Ansary)
- Why Nations Fail: The Origins of Power, Prosperity, and Poverty (D. Acemoglu, J. Robinson)
- The Grand Chessboard: American Primacy and its Geostrategic Imperative (Zbigniew Brezinski)
- The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of the World Order (Samuel Huntington)
Some of my favorite blogs include Zero Hedge, Project Syndicate, and the Economist. I'm very interested in politics and economics as well as science and technology. When I'm not teaching, researching, or lesson planning I'm often editing research proposals or articles being submitted to academic journals.
It's a pleasure to meet you and I hope to have insightful exchanges with you in the near future.
